Our establishment
CASA SIXTO is a country house lodge for rent as a unit, on 150 m² and three floors. Its refurbishment was begun in 1998, largely preserving those elements which characterise the traditional local architectural style: wooden beams and wrought iron, a facade with the original window design and a small balcony with the original wrought-iron balustrade. Modern materials have also been used to ensure that the house resists water and draughts. This makes the house a comfortable place to rest. While it is in the historic old town centre, two minutes from the square, in a very busy shopping area, with shops, cafés, supermarkets, etc, it is also only three minutes´ walk from the open country.

Rooms
The house sleeps up to 8 people in 5 rooms, as follows:
On the ground floor there is a double room with double bed and balcony, and two small single rooms.
On the first floor there are two large double rooms with double beds.
Other facilities
- There is a warm and welcoming sitting room with a fireplace with mantelpiece, two armchairs and a sofa, a sideboard and two chests which are used as tables.
- Library.
- Extremely spacious and well-lit kitchen.
- 3 bathrooms, one on each floor. The bathroom on the ground floor has a shower, and the other two have a bath.
- A garden/terrace and very quiet interior courtyard, with no noise, with sun loungers and garden furniture, and a small barbecue, ideal to relax while chatting with family and friends.
Useful tourist information
Piedrahita is a small town with excellent transport connections, since it is at an important transport hub with roads to Madrid, Ávila, Salamanca, Béjar, Plasencia, Toledo, etc, and a number buses in different directions every day.
It is the ideal place to get away from the noise of city life, and escape to peace and tranquillity: Why not sit at a table in the beautiful square in front of the town hall or church, or to take a walk through the gardens of the beautiful old palace of the Dukes of Alba, a fine example of French architecture?
A walk towards Peñanegra takes your breath away when you stop in the ruins of the old Santo Domingo convent, the ancestral birthplace of the Álvarez de Toledo family (the Dukes of Alba), and watch the hundreds of paragliders in the sky above the wonderful Valle del Corneja valley and its environs. This is region where the Dukes of Alba left their mark in palaces, castles and churches.
Goya, Benjamín Palencia, Díaz Castilla and many other artists left their impressions of this region in their paintings, which now hang in the most famous European museums.
Tuesday is market day all year round. It brings people in from the surrounding district and beyond. In the summer there are fiestas in the town and in the towns and villages nearby. There is also a horse fair and competition, which is known throughout Spain.
There is a huge range of possibilities for hiking, mountaineering, biking, paragliding, hang-gliding, etc.
A number of world paragliding and hang-gliding championships have been held in the town and in La Lastra del Cano, because of the great flying conditions.
